Elevator Rides - 25 Cents
My mom has either been moved to a new room this evening, (Friday evening, since my Blogger is on Eastern time) or she will be tomorrow. Today my mom and I brushed out her hair. When you are laying on it for 5 days, it gets quite tangled. I helped her when her arms got tired. Calem's detangler worked well also. So, if you are ever in the hospital unable to brush your hair for a few days, remember Johnson and Johnson Detangler.
My mom had a thoracic aortic aneurysm. The doctor told her that my brother and I would have to watch for it in the future also, especially since my grandfather died from the same thing. Some of you expressed surprise that my mom was still in ICU, but the nurses on her floor actually said she is progressing faster than normal. It is a major operation, and usually the patient is released 7-10 days after the sugery. The doctor actually had to spread my mom's rib cage to fix the aneurysm and put in the stent. She has a diagnoal scar across her back, according to my dad. Many students have come to visit my mom, also, because it is something they don't see often. My mom's was caught by accident. We say my sister was looking out for her. (That article doesn't seem to describe the surgery my mom had, but it was the closest I could find this late.)
Calem and I spent about 2 hours today at the playground in the Pediatric department. He was practically dragging me there. We also took a ride in the elevator. The elevator is a new thing. It is a fun ride, in his opinion. Every time we pass an elevator, he wants to ride in it. And then I can't pull him away. Fortunately, I can still pick him up and carry him away though. But I figure I have now saved myself a ton of money on amusement parks! Today's elevator beeped. Every time it beeped, Calem said "Beep!" I thought it was so cute, I put it on video.

8 forgot to fasten their seatbelt:
Glad to hear things are progressing in the good way!
Yeah mom! Keeping you all in my thoughts...
I agree, I think your sister was really watching out for her. It is a serious thing and I am soooo glad that she is doing great!
Oh to be young again and amused by little things :)
Hey Lynda! I haven't visited because I didn't think you'd be blogging. Glad things are going okay, and glad you're keeping us posted.
Glad to hear your mom is doing better. I didn't realize how invasive her surgery was. Usually they kick you out in a few days so it is good they have allowed her time to heal. Your sister is definately her guardian angel.
I loved the video. Beep!
My grandfather died from AAA. My mom and her brother have to be watched, too.
I am glad that she is getting better.
Whew, I'm glad to know everything is progressing smoothly. Hope she has a speedy recovery!
I'm catching up on some back-reading. Wow, that is scary. I'm so glad to hear your mom is okay!
