Beaches

On the last Friday of my trip to California, Calem and I took Nanja to the beach. It was probably close to 100 degrees in Santa Rosa, and when my dad checked the weather, he saw it was about 70F / 20 C on the coast. It sounded perfect. My dad also warned me about a dozen times (and my mom warned me once) to watch out for Calem near the water. The undertow is always willing to snatch some poor, ignorant person. Turns out, for this trip, we didn't even make it to the water.

When we got there, the sea breeze was coming in. It was cold enough that Calem's teeth began to chatter. So, we barely touched the sand when we went back to the car. I forgot that Northern California beaches can be quite cold. If you have ever been to a Northern and Southern California beach, you know how different they can be. So, we went to several lookout points and took pictures, keeping Calem in the car most of the trip so he didn't get too cold.

Here is a view of the sea lions. Calem and I tried to show Natania, but we could only do so from a distance because of the icy chill. The sea lions are the log type things on the shore. Usually there is more, but it is only the beginning of the sea lion season.

You can learn more about who Nanja is by reading my post at See Calem Grow and Learn.
